Dryer Vent Cleaning & Internal Dryer Cleaning – Westchester, Fairfield, Rockland & NYC

Family Touch Repairs is an appliance repair company first — so when we clean your dryer, we don’t just snake the vent. We pull the back and bottom panels, take out the lint that builds up around the heating element, blower housing, motor, and base pan, and put eyes on every component while we’re in there. Most “dryer vent cleaners” never see the inside of your machine. We do, on every visit — and if a component is on its way out, we can handle the dryer repair on the same trip.

We clean the dryer, not just the vent

Lint that fuels dryer fires builds up inside the cabinet — around the heating element, blower wheel, and base pan. Vent-only cleanings miss it. We open the machine and clean it out.

Free diagnostic with every cleaning

While we’re inside, we inspect the heating element, thermal fuse, thermistor, drum rollers, idler pulley, belt, blower wheel, and motor. If anything is failing or about to, you’ll know — at no extra charge.

Discounted labor on any repair

If we find something that needs fixing, we discount the labor on the dryer repair since we’re already on site with the machine open. You save the second trip charge and the redundant teardown time.

Repair-tech grade thorough

Our techs work on dryers every day. We know exactly where lint hides, what bearings sound like when they’re going, and how to test components properly. Cleaning is just one tool we use.

What “most vent cleaners” vs. Family Touch actually do

Typical dryer-vent service:

  • Snake the vent line from inside or roof
  • Vacuum the lint trap slot
  • Done in 15 minutes, never opens the dryer

Family Touch dryer cleaning:

  • Disconnect dryer, pull it out, vacuum behind it
  • Remove back panel, clean lint from the heating element compartment, drum seals, and rear bulkhead
  • Remove bottom or front panel (model-dependent), clean the blower housing and blower wheel by hand
  • Inspect motor brushes, pulleys, drum rollers, belt, thermistor, thermal fuse, hi-limit, and gas valve (gas dryers)
  • Snake and clean the full exhaust duct from machine to exterior hood
  • Check the exterior hood damper — replace blocked or broken flaps
  • Reassemble, test airflow, run a heated cycle to verify temperature recovery
  • Walk you through anything we found, with photos

Why bother cleaning the inside of the dryer?

  • Fire risk. The U.S. Fire Administration consistently lists clogged dryers as a leading cause of laundry-room fires. Most of that lint sits inside the cabinet, not the duct.
  • Drying time. A linted heating element + blocked blower wheel cuts airflow. You run two cycles, your bill doubles, the heating element burns out faster.
  • Component life. Lint insulates motor windings and bearings, traps heat, and shortens the life of every internal part. A clean dryer lasts longer.
  • Diagnostic visibility. Cracked drum seals, worn rollers, weak idler springs, failing thermal fuses — all of these are visible only when the cabinet is open. We see them and tell you.

Add it to a Family Touch Service Plan

Annual dryer cleaning is included in our service plans, along with checkups on your other appliances and priority booking. Plan members also get discounted labor on any repair we recommend during a cleaning visit — so the cleaning ends up paying for itself the first time something needs adjustment.

FAQ

How often should the inside of my dryer be cleaned?

Once a year for an average household. More often if you have pets, run multiple loads a day, or notice clothes taking longer to dry than they used to.

Why don’t most vent cleaners open the dryer?

They aren’t appliance technicians. They have a vent-snake business and the inside of the cabinet isn’t their specialty. We do this work as repair techs first, so opening the cabinet is routine.

What does the free diagnostic include?

Visual and electrical inspection of the heating element, thermal fuse, hi-limit, thermistor, motor, blower wheel, drum rollers, idler pulley, belt, drum seals, gas valve (gas dryers), and exhaust duct integrity. If we find a part on its way out, you’ll get a written estimate before any repair work.

What if you find something that needs fixing during the cleaning?

You decide. We’ll show you what we found and quote the dryer repair. If you say go ahead, we discount the labor because we’re already there with the machine open.

Are the videos on this page muted on purpose?

Yes. Every video clip plays silently and the audio track is removed before upload, so it stays muted no matter what your browser settings are.
